A Bit About Interfacings ...
To fuse or not to fuse….that is the question. Fusible interfacing depends upon a combination of heat, steam, and pressure for applications. This type of interfacing tends to add rigidity to the fabric itself. Sew-In interfacing requires the extra step of sewing, but it’s perfect for materials that one cannot iron. Whatever you decide to choose, make sure that the interfacing corresponds with the fabric. All weights are available in woven, nonwoven, and knit options. The weight of the interfacing should never overpower the fabric. It can change the drape significantly. With a woven interfacing, one can control drape and stretch when applied. Nonwoven interfacing can be cut in any direction and once applied, it stabilizes it in all directions and eliminates stretch. Knit interfacing is made from interloping yarns. It stabilizes without sacrificing drape and can provide a bit of soft stability. When in doubt please contact customer service. Samples will be sent upon request.
